Photober 2026: week three
Published on
A little late, but here's the photos from week 3 of Photober:

Every part of the old town of Dubrovnik is photogenic, but this shot captures the small yet maze-like part of the city very well I think. The terracotta roof tiles really stood out here, it was like I was surrounded on all sides.

Astro photography may not be my forté, but I was happily surprised by how this shot came out. Taken in South Africa (where there's so much less light pollution than here in Europe), what I think is the Milky Way is very clearly visible, even with the naked eye if you let your vision adjust to the darkness a little bit. What an absolutely magical experience.

I took this photo of a European robin in a zoo, where it was a visitor like me. The weather was getting colder, and by the looks of it this little one was already pretty well-fed to survive the cold winter months.

Warsaw is such an interesting city to walk around in. One moment you're surrounded by history and the stories that unfolded there in the 1940s, and the next you're transported into the present with glass giants towering above you and businessmen hurrying to their next meeting. It makes for some pretty pictures, though!

As I shared on the Instagram post already, I wasn't super happy with this photo. I could've gotten down on the ground and cropped in a bit more to get a more interesting angle, or wait for the subject to step into the light just a few meters ahead. It still makes for a decent shot, but there's always this "what could have been" in the back of my mind with this one.

My parents' golden doodle Willow when he was just a pup. He still sits like that with his back paws spread out. What an incredible goofball. The autumn leaves and backdrop contrast pretty well with his mocha-colored fur here.

Every Friday morning from 07:00 until 10:00 AM, the streets of (a section of) Jakarta are car-free and people take to the streets to walk, run, and just connect. There's food stands, live music, and a lot of good vibes around, and I happily partook in this tradition.
And that's it for week three! The previous week's photos can be seen here, and if you want to follow along "in real time", follow my photography account on Instagram.
